Life at the wolf compound is getting pretty anxious and Rocky can not wrap his head around this pack. The mountain lion pride has been completely drained just like the demon was in book one and since Cormac killed Thomas at the end of Mind Magic, they are at a loss as to who is responsible. What they discover is horrific, tragic, and opens up a world of questions. The Pack sends a contingent over to Riley's pride lands to see what happened as they are unable to reach anyone via phone. He's been running for days ever since his mom told him to \"when the bad man came\". Simon and Garon are out in the forest one day when they discover a young boy, Riley, a mountain lion shifter.

Both of these men are attracted to one another, but between Rocky's secrets and Cade's concerns it might not work out so well for them. Cade is still feeling massive guilt from when the demon kidnapped the cubs and there's something about Rocky that is bothering him. Cade is Alpha Gray and his beta Liam's best friend and they've grown up together. Unfortunately for the pack and Rocky, he's a wolf with several deep secrets that do not bode well for anyone in his vicinity. Rocky is a wolf on loan to the High Moon Pack to update their security system.

I don't mean that you got references to those characters (Gray, Simon, Garon, Cormac), but, instead the author continued writing their pivotal story alongside Cade and Rocky's. Best of all, the storyline from book one continued here, also. I was so excited to read this story because I love paranormals and shifters and I had a feeling the author would be able to keep the excitement going. I like that in a series because it's seamless and the plot and story are picked back up immediately. Book two in Poppy Dennison's series 'Triad', began following the end of book one.
